Suntel, committed to provide an unprecedented service to its customers firmly believes that creating a competent organization is by enhancing the skills and competencies of its staff, and more specifically the supervisory and management staff. The company accepts that in an acutely competitive marketplace managers need a new approach that relies less on command and control, and more on commitment, coordination, communication and competence. In fact, skilled and competent managers have the opportunity to make a difference. With a view to realizing these objectives Suntel has linked  with the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), the nation’s school of business, to train and develop its supervisory and management staff.

The central purpose of the program designed by the PIM, titled “Management Development Training Program for Supervisory and Management Staff” is to make the staff of Suntel’s Customer Operations Department more effective in serving the customers, as they provide the important interface between the customers and the management.

Dr. Uditha Liyanage, Director, PIM, addressing the distinguished gathering at the inauguration ceremony of the Suntel Management Development Training Program

The program was inaugurated on March 06, at the PIM. Dr. Uditha Liyanage, Director, PIM, in his welcome address speaking on learning, emphasized the three different facets with which learning is involved, namely,
1. ‘Level-one-learning’ - learning as doing, i.e., learning as result of doing, and re-doing if the desired results are not achieved
2. ‘Level-two-learning’ - learning as knowing, or searching for knowledge before commencing an activity.
3. ‘Learning as seeing’ - learning by seeing things differently. This facet of learning, in fact, is extremely important, as seeing things differently will lead to doing things differently, and doing things differently will lead to achieving different results.
